Glorious Wharfedale!

On 16th August 2021, several volunteers took a small group of guests, including some from our sister organisation LEDAS, to visit Fell Edge Farm, near Addingham in Wharfedale. Fell Edge was originally a typical Dales sheep farm, with pasture land divided into small fields by ancient stone walls. Now there is a converted barn – a large gathering space for groups – a teepee, wooded areas and a pond, all set in rolling green countryside.

For once, the British weather was kind and our group enjoyed a walk around the farm followed by lunch, then a choice of drawing or a walk up the hill behind the farm. Several guests, although puzzled by the idea of walking uphill for no good reason, tackled the walk through the purple heather and finally realised the point of it all when they reached the top – the glorious sunny view over the whole dale.

There were lots of smiles, many jokes and much laughter. A day to remember.

With thanks to Richard and Liz who run Fell Edge Farm and who gave us a great welcome.
