Skipton trip

On 31st August, 40 people from Conversation Club set off by train to the beautiful North Yorkshire town of Skipton, a place with a long history of farming and the wool industry.  We visited the 900-year-old castle, had a picnic lunch in the castle grounds, wandered around the streets of old stone houses and went for a walk along the famous canal.  We saw many colourful ‘narrowboats’, which in the past were used for carrying industrial goods, but are now used for holidays or even as homes.  It was a very full day, but it was great fun, and a good time was had by all!
