Scarborough Trip

SB writes: On 21 August Conversation Club went to Scarborough. We were 25 asylum seekers and refugees with 6 volunteers: Margaret, Sue, Colin, Christine, Nigel and Dot. We all set off from Leeds at 9am in 2 mini-buses. It was a raining little when we set off. I was worried that the weather would be cold but it was brilliant.

Our journey took about two hours. When we arrived we went straight to the sea, the South Bay. We played Badminton, Cricket, Football and also Frisbee. My favourites are Badminton and Frisbee. My friend and I made a sandcastle. After this the group all met and ate together.

Some of the group walked to the North Bay. When they returned I asked them where they had been. They said they wanted to explore more of Scarborough. I would like to walk to the castle on my next visit.

We all gathered together in the South Bay. Some of us played in the waves and water. My favourite part of the trip was the sea, sand and seeing the castle. Everybody seemed so happy. Our mini-buses were waiting for us at 4pm. We got back to Leeds at 6pm with happy faces. Everybody was so tired but they had really enjoyed the day.
